Music as Worldbuilding

Radio stations have defined every GTA game's identity: Vice City's 1980s pop and synth, San Andreas's 1992 hip-hop, GTA 5's diverse modern mixture. GTA 6's present-day Leonida demands music rooted in Florida's unique cultural legacy — a state that has produced some of the most distinctive American music of the past four decades.

Florida's Musical Heritage

Miami Bass — the high-energy, booming electronic genre born in 1980s Liberty City and perfected by acts like 2 Live Crew — is a natural GTA 6 soundtrack element. Miami's world-famous electronic dance music scene (Ultra Music Festival is set there annually) suggests EDM radio stations for Vice City's nightclub districts. Southern rap and trap music fits Leonida's rural and urban areas. Country and Americana music suits the state's northern rural zones.

Expected Radio Stations

While no official station list has been released, the trailer's audio selections hint at the range: contemporary hip-hop for urban Vice City, electronic/house for nightclub districts, country/southern rock for rural Leonida, talk radio satire, and potentially Spanish-language stations reflecting Florida's significant Latin American population.

Talk Radio

GTA's talk radio stations consistently deliver some of the franchise's funniest and sharpest social commentary. GTA 6's talk stations will almost certainly satirise: true crime podcast culture, Florida Man incidents, political polarisation, influencer culture, and the specific absurdities of modern American media.

Original Score

Rockstar commissions original orchestral compositions for non-radio moments — missions, cutscenes, emotional sequences. GTA 6's score will blend with the licensed soundtrack to create a cohesive audio identity. Rockstar's in-house audio team has produced exceptional original music for every major title since GTA IV.
