Graphics and Visual Fidelity
GTA 6 runs exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, enabling Rockstar to use real-time ray tracing, photorealistic lighting, advanced cloth simulation, and draw distances impossible on last-gen hardware. The first trailer showed rain effects, reflective wet surfaces, and crowd density far beyond anything GTA 5 achieved even in its PS5 enhanced version.
Map Size and Density
GTA 5's San Andreas was impressive for 2013, but GTA 6's Leonida surpasses it significantly. Beyond raw area, the density of interactable content has increased dramatically — more enterable buildings, NPCs with daily routines, and environments that respond dynamically to the player's actions.
NPC Intelligence
The most significant gameplay leap in GTA 6 is NPC behaviour. Characters now have persistent memory, realistic daily schedules, emotional states that change based on circumstances, and use smartphones to film incidents or call for help. The world feels genuinely alive in ways GTA 5's scripted NPCs never could.
Dual Protagonist System
GTA 5's three protagonists had partially separate story arcs that intersected occasionally. GTA 6 weaves Lucia and Jason's narratives together from the start — a unified criminal romance told from two complementary perspectives, with more meaningful character differentiation in gameplay.
Economy and Progression
GTA 6's in-game economy is reportedly more complex: property investment influences returns, criminal operations have supply-chain mechanics, and the world's economy responds to player actions. Money feels meaningful rather than simply accumulating toward the next vehicle purchase.
