Welcome to Vice City, 1986

Released in October 2002, GTA Vice City remains one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. You play as Tommy Vercetti — just released from 15 years in Foxhound Penitentiary — who arrives in Vice City for a drug deal that goes disastrously wrong, setting off a chain of events that leads to him building the city's most powerful criminal empire.

The Main Story

Tommy works for Liberty City mob boss Sonny Forelli and local attorney Ken Rosenberg. His journey takes him through Vice City's diverse criminal factions: Colombian cartel members, Cuban and Haitian gangs, corrupt police, adult film industry figures, and biker clubs. The 18-story missions climax with Tommy retaking his mansion and killing Sonny in a dramatic final confrontation.

Building Your Empire

Vice City's signature feature is property purchasing. After completing specific story missions, Tommy can buy businesses that generate weekly income: Kaufman Cabs ($40,000 per week), The Malibu Club ($10,000), Print Works ($8,000), Cherry Popper Ice Cream ($3,000), Boatyard ($3,000), Sunshine Autos ($9,000 growing to $100,000), and Pole Position Club ($5,000).

Hidden Packages — All 100

Vice City's 100 hidden packages are scattered across both islands. Collecting them in groups of 10 unlocks weapons at Tommy's safehouses: 10 = Body Armour, 20 = Chainsaw, 30 = Pistol, 40 = Ingram, 50 = MP5, 60 = M4, 70 = Flamethrower, 80 = Minigun, 90 = Grenades, 100 = Rockets. Detailed map guides show all locations.

Easter Eggs and Secrets

Vice City contains numerous secrets including film studio Scarface references, a moonpool with a hidden Easter egg message, helicopter blade kills, a working ice cream van business, and multiple references suggesting Vice City exists in the same universe as GTA 3's Liberty City.
